Scope and operator
This page describes data handling by the lingoi v2 Japanese-learning app and product website. Their scope differs: visiting the website does not activate app recording or upload learning content.
This is an unpublished draft dated 22 September 2026 and is not in effect. The legal operator, contact email, service regions, actual providers and data storage locations will be added before release. It does not automatically apply to accounts or historical data from the old website.
Data we process
- Account and sign-in: account identifiers, credentials and session information for identification, sign-in and access control.
- Learning records: goals, diagnostic responses, practice answers, conversations, response times, hints used, assessment feedback, error records and review evidence to generate practice, show progress and schedule reviews.
- Recordings: audio you submit and necessary metadata for speech recognition and learning assessment. Your voice may be identifiable.
- Subscriptions: Apple transaction identifiers, products, validity periods, refunds and entitlement status to verify and restore purchases. The app does not receive bank card numbers.
- Diagnostics: when enabled, filtered error states, request tracing identifiers and crash stack addresses help troubleshoot faults. Diagnostic events do not include recordings, conversation text, login tokens or request headers.
Recordings, permissions and optional uses
The app requests microphone permission when recording is needed. You can revoke it in system settings; microphone-dependent features will then be unavailable. Submitting speech for assessment is separate from allowing recordings to be used for model or rule improvement and sampling by authorized teachers.
Consent for optional teaching-quality uses is off by default and can be enabled or withdrawn in the app. Withdrawal makes the relevant recordings ineligible for subsequent sampling; it does not automatically delete existing learning records. Use the separate recording deletion feature to delete audio. Declining optional uses does not prevent normal practice.
Authorized teachers can only access eligible, restricted samples. Direct account identifiers are removed, but this does not make voices completely anonymous. Avoid unrelated sensitive information or other people's private content in practice.
Providers and data transfers
Online speech practice sends audio to the server for recognition and passes necessary answers, transcripts and task context to the configured AI service for assessment and feedback. Apple handles purchases and related store services. When error monitoring is enabled, Sentry processes filtered diagnostic events.
Before the production version is enabled, this page must name the actual speech and AI, hosting, object storage and monitoring providers, their purposes, data categories, processing regions and retention arrangements. This draft does not promise provider storage locations, zero retention or exclusion from training, because deployment settings are not yet confirmed. Transfers between regions require the relevant disclosures and necessary authorization beforehand.
Retention and deletion
Server-side recording retention defaults to 30 days and can be changed to 7 days. Shortening it queues older recordings for cleanup. On expiry or a deletion request, audio first becomes ineligible for processing and review, then its stored objects are deleted in the background. Changing the period does not restore deleted audio.
Learning records support ongoing progress tracking until the account deletion process removes them. Once account deletion is accepted, the account is frozen, sign-in is revoked and audio cleanup is queued. Account database records are removed after object cleanup. Acceptance does not mean all data has already been deleted; storage failures may leave cleanup awaiting a retry.
A minimal deletion receipt retains the request number, original account identifier, status and timestamps, without learning content or login credentials. Specific retention periods for receipts, backups and provider copies are awaiting operational confirmation and must be disclosed here before release.
Access, export and controls
- View and change recording purposes and retention in the app's profile screen.
- Export your learning data as a JSON file; downloaded copies are your responsibility.
- Delete past recordings or separately request account deletion.
- Account deletion does not cancel Apple auto-renewal. Manage your subscription with Apple as well.
For correction, access or other privacy requests, use the support email to be announced at release. That contact channel is not yet available in this draft.
Website, minors and policy updates
This product website has no account forms and uses no advertising tracking, analytics SDKs or non-essential cookies. The example's expanded state exists only in current page memory; it does not record audio or submit answers. Website hosting may process IP addresses and access logs for delivery and security. The actual host and log retention period will be added once deployment is confirmed.
Initial age eligibility and service regions will be determined before release. The service is not currently specifically directed at children, and this draft does not authorize collection of children's information. Where minors are involved, applicable regional rules and appropriate protections must be followed.
Changes to data handling will be reflected in the version and effective date of this page. Updating it alone does not obtain consent for new purposes that require consent.
